I’m starting to gather together resources relating to Plone 3 customisation and skinning in preparation for having a go at a Plone 3 site. I haven’t found an awful lot so far but these are certainly useful
- Martin Aspeli
- Professional Plone Development, chapter 8, “Creating a custom theme”
- Denis Mishunov, Override the portlets in Plone 3.0.I found this one a little hard to understand in places
- DIYPloneStyle. Available for Plone 3x as well as Plone 2.5x
- Kevin Teague, Creating a minimalistic Zope 3 view
Deliverance is a promising sounding project and seems to be generating some interest on the lists. In my very limited understanding it appears to be some tool for pulling out content from specified areas of a Plone template and putting them into your own fully-customised template, thus providing far more flexibility in terms of themes. It uses WSGI (Web Server Gateway Interface) technologies which I won’t pretend to know anything about.
- Deliverance project page at OpenPlans
- Setting up Deliverance (part two of a two-part video which starts with Installing Repoze)
