I’m off to the Lofotens in Norway for the next couple of weeks so things will be pretty quiet round here. Hopefully I will get to see the Mosktraumen, or the Maelström, as mentioned in Edgar Allen Poe’s short story, “A Descent into the Maelström” and pictured here in this rather fine photograph by Nicolas Masse on Flickr.

It’s not supposed to be as terrifying in reality, so hopefully I’ll return without too many grey hairs (the protagonist in Poe’s story has his hair turned grey by his ordeal).
