The Gough Map of Great Britain

Gough Map screenshot

The Gough Map is Britain’s oldest road map, believed to have been created in the 14th Century. I was part of a project team to bring a digitised, searchable and browsable version of the map to the Web.

I designed the page templates in Photoshop and coded them using XHTML 1.0, CSS (including some CSS3 elements such as drop- and text-shadows) and jQuery. I integrated the templates with Django and the Django CMS.

The project received national press coverage, including stories on the BBC and Daily Mail.
